Overview and Results

Sanibel island presents an intensely competitive landscape for intimate, immersive hotels like The Inns of Sanibel. I first partnered with this portfolio of properties as a consultant, then, later joined forces as Corporate Director of Marketing | Vice President of Marketing. My initial project was leading teams to pioneer a complete website redesign. The result was a responsive, dynamic website that enhanced the user experience, bolstered SEO, leading to a significant uptick in organic search rankings and propelled direct booking revenues to unprecedented heights. In the face of natural disasters and the global pandemic, I provided crucial support through innovative, omni-channel marketing initiatives and environmentally-focused tactics resulting in a record-breaking 38% increase in Average Daily Rate (ADR) and 21% boost in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) from 2019-2022. Additionally, I worked directly with The Inns operations team to create and execute unique destination-focused guest experiences and packages/promotions. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian caused catastrophic damage to the collection of hotels that traditionally draw families spanning multiple-generations to the pristine, beachfront local. Today, The Inns of Sanibel remain temporarily closed, though rebuilding is in full swing. I currently lead brand marketing strategy as a consultant to deliver a new website with captivating imagery and content, position a brand refresh to reflect enhancements, and launch digital marketing campaigns for the grand reopening of these beloved, boutique hotels.

Executive Marketing Consultant

Overview and Results

A year and a half before its grand opening, Fairmont Austin engaged me as an executive marketing consultant to orchestrate comprehensive pre-opening marketing, communications and PR campaigns for their upcoming 1,048 room luxury hotel. Joining the project as the second team member hired, I took the lead developing marketing plans, directing photography, overseeing the production of all on-brand collateral materials and crafting narratives to position the hotel with a "Not your grandfather's Fairmont" image. From establishing website content and social media presence to arranging desk-side visits with influential editors to secure media coverage, I played an integral role in every step of the pre-opening process. My strategic marketing and communications work, in close collaboration with teams of staff and vendors, yielded impressive results, contributing to 100,000+ room nights booked a year before the official opening.

The Sarasota-Manatee Originals

Executive Marketing Consultant

Overview and Results

The Sarasota-Manatee Originals consist of over 60 independently-owned restaurants throughout Florida’s SunCoast, from Anna Maria Island to Venice. I worked with this consortium as a marketing consultant for several years. The Originals united to identify their region as a culinary destination, and under my brand marketing leadership, they showcased the best of their combined culinary offerings to a broader audience. I developed the group's collective marketing, advertising and media relations strategy. Additionally, I created the inaugural Forks & Corks Food & Wine Festival's marketing and communications strategy, and fundraising goals. I personally generated more than $250,000 in media sponsorships which ultimately contributed to a revenue surplus of $70,000 above the first year break-even financial objective. 16 years later, Forks & Corks is Southwest Florida's premier food and wine event, featuring member restaurants and an esteemed cast of wine makers from around the world, drawing thousands of oenophiles and foodies annually.
